GET TO KNOW ME I’m Sarah. Chi Alpha Missionary, Campus Pastor, and Administrator at Indiana University. |
My story: As a student at Eastern Michigan University I joined Chi Alpha with a desire to grow in my faith. I left EMU with a passion for Christ and a desire to see more students become life long followers of Jesus. I spent a couple years substitute teaching, working with a church plant in Dearborn, MI. and volunteering with Chi Alpha (XA) at EMU.
In 2012 I left everything I knew in Michigan and hopped on a plane to do a Chi Alpha internship at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) in Texas. There I learned more practical tools for how to reach and disciple students. About a year into my 2 year internship at SHSU I was asked to consider joining a team that was reaching students at Indiana University. A few weeks before, as I began praying about where God may be leading me next, I asked the Lord for 4 things: 1. To be a part of a team 2. That team to ask me to join them 3. A place to use my administrative gifts and 4. An opportunity to be on a campus and not just working in an office. I found all four of these things at Indiana University and moved to Bloomington, IN in July 2014. I've been part of a great team for over two years now that is seeing students lives transformed. We are raising up leaders who will impact the university, the marketplace, and ultimately the world! Check out this short video and get a glimpse of Chi Alpha at IU: XA Video |
Transforming the University and the Nations
My days as a campus missionary are filled with planning retreats/events and organizing registration. I handle the finances for a growing ministry with over 350 students and keep our office organized, assisting the staff with the day to day tasks. I help mentor/disciple some of our 80+ student leaders and much, much more.

IU has around 6,000 international students that God as brought to our door step from many places we as Christians may not get to go. I get to serve them by becoming their friend and give them rides to the store, I edit papers/work on English language skills, I get to share Jesus with them, eventually teaching them to do the same, and so more.
